IELTS Writing Task 1: Bar chart

The chart below shows waste collection by a recycling centre from 2011 to 2015. Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparisons where relevant.

The bar graph illustrates the amount of garbage collected on four different items (paper, glass, tins, and garden) by a recycling business between 2011 and 2015.   Units are measured in tons of waste.

Overall, the data indicate that the amount of rubbish on paper showed the most, whereas the three remaining types of waste constantly fluctuated over the period given.

In terms of paper collected, it began at 57 tons of waste (2011), and then it slightly decreased to 50 tons in 2012 and continuously fell to 40 tons before dramatically increasing to 51 tons in 2014 and considerably peaking at 70 tons in 2015.

On the other hand, in 2011, the amount of glass, tins and garden collected respectively were 48 tons, 35 tons and 32 tons, and then those significantly decreased to 41 tons, 27 tons and 15 tons in 2012 before substantially rising in 2014. Similarly, they significantly increased the data in 2014 and continuously decreased the amount of waste collected in 2015.

IELTS Writing Task 2: Both views and give your opinion

Some people think that children should aim to their best at what they are doing while others believe that it is not necessary for them. Discuss both views and give your own opinions.

Educating children has become a topic of debate in recent years. Some people believe that aiming the best at what children are doing is important while others maintain that it is redundant for them. This essay will discuss both views in-depth and I would personally argue that it is better for children when they have the freedom to do what they like without achievements.

To begin with, there are a growing number of people who wish that children should plan the best target of each activity because this useful habit is extremely important. They have reason to believe that their children will study a lot of significant skills like practical or academic skills if they originally create a specific plan. For example, children could potentially gain a good result of learning in schools when their parents suggest them to try to become the best student in the class, and as a result, these children will have good motivation in studying. That is why these people have good reason to agree that children should aim their best goals at what they are doing.

In contrast to some people who support that children should target a good result of their activities are those who believe that it is unnecessary. The compelling reason for this is that adults, such as parents and teachers, should not place children under unfavorable situations as being under a high level of pressure of gaining high achievements. For instance, more children burn out from long studying hours and not enough time to care for friends and hobbies themselves. This often results in either mental or physical suffering because they have to study overtime which can be stressful. For these good reasons, there are a number of people who believe that it is not better for children to target to their best at what they are doing.

In conclusion, in today’s fast-paced world, the science-based ways of educating children are becoming increasingly controversial. A number of people think that children should have an important plan of what they are doing. Others disagree and believe that adults should not generate pressure for them about specific achievements. This essay discussed the various reasons why people hold these points of view. In my opinion, children should have the right of doing what they prefer without a high level of goals.
